1. Acceptance of Terms

By using Hobby's platform (ihobby.no), you accept these terms and conditions. If you do not accept the terms, we ask that you do not use the service.

2. Description of Service

Hobby is a marketplace that connects consumers with local hosts of activities, courses and workshops in Norway. The platform lets you explore activities, reserve places and leave reviews.

3. User Accounts

To use certain features on the platform, you must create a user account. You are responsible for:

  • Ensuring the information you provide is correct and up to date.
  • Keeping your login information confidential.
  • All activity that takes place under your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts that violate these terms.

4. User Responsibilities

As a user of the platform, you agree to:

  • Use the service in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Not publish content that is offensive, discriminatory or unlawful.
  • Not attempt to circumvent the platform's security systems.
  • Give honest and factual reviews of activities you have attended.
  • Show up to reserved activities or cancel in good time.

5. Host Responsibilities

Hosts who offer activities through Hobby agree to:

  • Provide correct and up-to-date information about their activities.
  • Carry out activities as described and at the agreed time.
  • Hold the necessary insurance, permits and qualifications.
  • Handle reservations and confirmations within a reasonable time.
  • Comply with applicable Norwegian legislation, including consumer protection law.

6. Reservations and Payment

Reservations are made through the platform. Payment for paid activities is processed via Stripe, a secure payment solution. Hobby facilitates the contact between user and host.

  • A reservation is confirmed automatically when a place is available.
  • For paid activities, payment is completed at the time of reservation.
  • Free activities require no payment, but the place is reserved.
  • Payout to the host: the payment is held in the host's Stripe account and paid to the host's bank account the day after the activity has taken place, and no later than 85 days after payment. For packages with several dates, the full amount is paid out the day after the first date. If the host cancels before payout, the customer is refunded from this amount.

6b. Cancellation and Refunds

Each host chooses one of the following cancellation policies for their activities. The policy that applies is shown on the activity page and before payment:

  • Flexible: Full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours before the event starts.
  • Moderate: Full refund if you cancel at least 3 days (72 hours) before the event starts.
  • Strict: Full refund if you cancel at least 7 days before the event starts.
  • No cancellation: The activity cannot be cancelled, and no refund is given.

If you cancel after the policy's deadline, the reservation is cancelled, but the payment is not refunded. Refunds are returned automatically to the original payment method used at booking.

The policy in effect when you booked is the one that applies to your booking. If the host changes the cancellation policy later, it does not affect bookings already made.

Cancellation by the host: If the host cancels an activity, all affected participants receive a full refund regardless of timing and cancellation policy.

Refunds are processed via Stripe and can take 5–10 business days before the amount appears on your statement.

7. Reviews and Ratings

Users can leave reviews after completed activities. Reviews must be honest, factual and based on your actual experience. We reserve the right to remove reviews that are unfactual, contain personal attacks, or violate applicable law.

8. Intellectual Property

All content on the platform, including design, logo, text and source code, belongs to Hobby or our licensors and is protected by Norwegian and international copyright law. Content you upload (e.g. profile pictures, reviews) remains your property, but you grant Hobby a non-exclusive licence to use the content in connection with the service.

9. Limitation of Liability

Hobby acts as an intermediary platform and is not directly responsible for:

  • The quality, safety or execution of activities provided by hosts.
  • Injury, loss or accidents that occur during or in connection with an activity.
  • Disagreements between users and hosts.
  • Temporary unavailability of the platform due to maintenance or technical issues.

Our liability is in any case limited to the amount permitted under Norwegian law for intermediary services.

10. Changes to the Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Significant changes will be notified via email or a message on the platform at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after the changes take effect is considered acceptance of the updated terms.

11. Governing Law and Disputes

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Any disputes shall first be attempted resolved amicably between the parties. If this is unsuccessful, the dispute may be brought before the Norwegian Conciliation Board (Forliksrådet) or the ordinary courts in Oslo. For consumers, the rights that follow from mandatory consumer protection legislation always apply.
